Elly Griffiths has been writing since she was a child, but her first published work was a short story for the magazine she edited, the school magazine. She is a freelance journalist who specializes in articles on health and fitness. She has published articles in several national newspapers and magazines, one of which, the Health Editor for the Daily Mirror, led to her becoming the youngest ever columnist at the paper. Her first book was published when she was 28 and it became an instant success
Since then she has written nine more books and has been nominated for many awards, including The National Book Awards for The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
